USAC Eastern Storm returns to Big Diamond Speedway on Friday, April 23rd

This Friday night, April 23rd will be one of the most anticipated shows of the season as the AMSOIL USAC Sprint cars return to the Big Diamond Speedway for the first time in almost a decade as part of the Eastern Storm. The USAC Sprint cars are perennial fan favorites and the anticipation for this event is off the charts as they invade the 3/8’s of a mile dirt oval nestled in Schuylkill County.
All the cars and stars of the AMSOIL USAC Sprints will be town to see who will be standing in victory lane when the checkered flag falls. Chris Windom fresh off his first NASCAR Cup Series start on the Bristol Dirt track leads the list of drivers who will be competing at Big Diamond Speedway with two previous victories at the track as he took the win in 2010 and again in 2012. Windom has also never finished outside of the top ten at the speedway in all five of his previous starts.
The “Macho Man” Brady Bacon will be looking for his first ever Big Diamond win on Friday. Bacon who is your current AMSOIL USAC Sprints point leader has two previous starts at the track both resulting in top ten finishes. Former series champion Robert Ballou will be looking to turn his luck around at Big Diamond, Ballou has four previous starts at the track with a best finish of 15th in 2007. Thomas Meseraull aka T-Mez will be action on Friday night as the California driver has hooked up the potent No. 39 sprint car owned by Tim and Fran Hogue to compete in all the Eastern Storm events. This will be a combination to watch throughout the week.
Other drivers expected to compete on Friday include AMSOIL USAC sprint regulars Chase Stockton, CJ Leary, Kevin Thomas Jr., Justin Grant, Tanner Thorson, and Jake Swanson amongst others. You can also expect some of the local USAC drivers to show up and see what they can do against the stars of the USAC National tour.
The Insigner Performance Modifieds will also be part of the show on Friday night making this night a must-see event. Timmy Buckwalter dominated the modified portion of the show on opening night getting the win, but the competition will be tough once again this Friday night as handicapping procedures will take place to determine the starting lineups.
Opening night winner in the modified Timmy Buckwalter will be doing double duty on Friday. Buckwalter will race the Norm Saxton No. 23X in the modified division and will hop aboard the Bagel Rack No. 7 to compete with the USAC Sprints.
The final division of the night will be the Red White and Blue Autos Roadrunners. The Roadrunners put on an exciting feature opening night with Andrew Fayash III taking the win.
Pit gates will open at 5:00 PM with Grandstand gates opening at 5:30 PM
General admission for this Friday is $30, Kids 11-12 are $10 with kids 10 and under free. Active Military are admitted free with a valid ID.
Pit admission is $40 with no license required.
Last weeks postponed Money in the Mountains race will be made up on Friday, April 30th along with the U.S.S Achey Sportsman, Savage 61 Crate 602 Sportsman and the Red White and Blue Roadrunners.
