Chalk another win up last Friday night for Mother Nature who continues to be a thorn in the side of Big Diamond Speedway. Rain and weather have forced the speedway to cancel six of the eleven scheduled shows so far in 2021. Let’s hope we can all see some great racing this Friday night as the Limited Late Models are scheduled to hit the track for the first time this season.
It will be Savage 61 night at the track this Friday with a full card of exciting racing set to take place in God’s country. The Limited Late Models made their return to Big Diamond Speedway last year as part of the Diamond Nationals with a great field of cars attending and some awesome racing on the track. Friday’s visit will be the first of three visits to Big Diamond this season. The late models will run for a $1,200 winner’s share of the purse on Friday night with $150 to take the green. If 24 or more cars are in attendance the start money will increase to $200. The Late Models will draw for starting spots with the feature draw being a revenge draw. *BAPS Late Model rules will be in effect.
The Insigner Performance 358 Modifieds will be raring to get back in action after a week off. Duane Howard is the current points leader with young Alex Yankowski breathing down his neck looking to take over the top spot. Billy Pauch Jr leads the division with two wins and has looked strong in the Kid No. 15 racing Bicknell and will be looking to increase his win total in 2021.
It will be the Savage 61 Crate 602 Sportsman racing for some extra money this week as their 20-lap feature event will pay $1,061 to win on Friday. This division has been very competitive this season with no repeat winners so far. Steve Lyle leads the way in the battle for the points title with Danny Buccafusca lurking in the shadows in second.
The Red White and Blue Autos Roadrunners are back on Friday night to continue their exciting brand of racing as 2020 champion Alex Schoffstall looks to keep up the pressure on Andrew Fayash III as the two look to battle for the 2021 points championship. Both drivers have two wins a piece on the season and a season long battle has begun. The always consistent Matt Ney currently sits is second place as he looks to thrust his name into the mix.
Pit Gates will open on Friday night at 5:00 PM with the grandstand gates opening at 5:30 PM.
Warmups get underway at 7:15 PM with racing starting at 7:45 PM.
General admission on Friday night will be $20, Kids under 16 are free. Active military are admitted free with a valid ID.
