Big Diamond Speedway returns to action this Friday night July 9th with an action-packed program set to hit the track. It will be an all-regular division night as the Insigner Performance Modifieds, the USS Achey Open Sportsman, the Savage 61 Crate 602 Sportsman and the Red White and Blue Autos Roadrunners will all be in action.
One notable change in the Modified portion of the program will be a switch to a single 25-lap feature instead of the originally scheduled Twin 20’s. The track has made this change due to the shortage of American Racer tires that has currently plagued the sport. Even with the change of features and laps, the Smulley’s will still be giving away some extra cash this Friday. The 25-lap modified feature will pay $3,200 to the winner with $300 to take the green.
Duane Howard still leads the way in the season long point standings but is still looking for his first Big Diamond win of the year. Alex Yankowski, Billy Pauch Jr, Timmy Buckwalter and Ryan Krachun complete the top five in the point standings.
The USS Achey Open Sportsman division returns to the speedway after a week off. The 20-lap feature race will for the Open Sportsman will pay $700 to the winner with $125 to take the green. Brandon Edgar will look to put a stranglehold on the field as he looks to win the 2021 title.
Last week’s Savage 61 Crate 602 feature saw a new face in victory lane as Jonathan Swift etched his name in the books with his first ever feature win. This division has seen many drivers get their first wins and expect that trend to continue as we move forward. Steve Lyle is the current points leader over Danny Buccafusca. This week the Crate 602 Sportsman will race 20-laps for a $600 first place prize with $100 to take the green.
In the Red White and Blue Autos Roadrunner division you can expect the Alex Schoffstall vs Andrew Fayash III show to continue. These two drivers between them have won a combined six features with Schoffstall leading the way with four wins to two for Fayash III. However, Fayash has a big lead in the points standings due to Schoffstall missing a race along with a couple of DNF’s. The Roadrunners will race this week for $325 and $50 to take the green.
Pit Gates will open on Friday night at 5:00 PM with the grandstand gates opening at 5:30 PM.
Warmups get underway at 7:15 PM with racing starting at 7:45 PM.
General admission on Friday night will be $20, Kids under 16 are free. Active military are admitted free with a valid ID.
If you cannot make it to the track, DirtTrackDigest.TV will provide all the action live via pay-per-view.
