$4,000 to win Modified feature highlights Dave Kamp Memorial Night, Friday August 2nd at Big Diamond Speedway

It will be a big night this Friday night at Big Diamond Speedway when promoters Jake and Jasmine Smulley present the annual Dave Kamp Memorial night with extra cash available for the Quandel Concrete Modifieds, the Uss Achey, Inc 602 Crate Sportsman and the Red White and Blue Autos Roadrunners.

The Dave Kamp Memorial race is an annual event run in the honor of a man who was dedicated to the sport of racing who called Big Diamond Speedway his home. Dave was a gentle giant of a man who was best friends with Johnny Deatrich, who raced at Big Diamond from 1993 to 2004 in many divisions. Dave was a crew member for Johnny and got the itch to race himself. Dave started racing in the Roadrunner and Street Stock divisions and had some success winning features at Big Diamond and other local speedways. Dave always joked with his good friend Johnny that once he caught and passed Johnny’s win total, he would never let him forget it. Unfortunately, Dave was never able to get to that point. Dave was two weeks away from his 40th birthday when he passed away. Dave’s good friend Johnny Deatrich has gone over and above this year to provide all three divisions with many extra cash prizes on Friday night.

The Quandel Concrete modifieds will get the night going racing 25-laps for a winners share of $4,000. After having last Friday night off, the mighty 358 modifieds will be raring to go as they look to gear up for some big paying races coming up as we race towards the big season ending Coalcracker 72. Coming off his big topless win two weeks ago, Louden Reimert has been on quite a roll lately and now sits second in the Quandel Concrete Modified championship standings trailing leader Brett Kressley by only 63 points. The teenager Logan Watt sits third in the standings followed by Duane Howard and Mike Lisowski.

In the Uss Achey, Inc. 602 Crate Sportsman division, last Friday saw the ever consistent  Kevin Olenick garner his first win of the season. This week the competition will be stiff as the 602 Crate Sportsman race for the top prize of $1,000. By virtue of his win, Olenick who resides second in points was able to cut the distance between himself and current championship leader Jordan Henn. Jax Yohn, Colin Cox and Matt Martino round out the top five in the standings.

The crowd pleasing and always exciting Red White and Blue Autos Roadrunner will race on Friday night for $500 to win. Kris Ney was finally able to get his first win of the season last Friday night to add his name to the 2024 winner’s list. 2024 has seen eight different drivers visit victory lane so far making this the most competitive year in some time. Andrew Fayash III is the current points leader by a small margin over Kris Ney.

Filling out the racing card on Friday night will be the East Coast Legend Series.
