358 Modifieds, Roadrunners, URC Sprint Cars and Pro 4 Racing Club highlight Big Diamond Speedway Friday racing card

Big Diamond Speedway near Minersville will be presenting a four division program of dirt track racing this coming Friday evening, August 22, on Red White and Blue Autos Inc. Night.

On the slate will be the Quandel Concrete 358 Modifieds, the Red White and Blue Autos Inc., Roadrunners along with the touring United Racing Club 360-winged Sprint Cars and the Pro 4 Racing Club.

Durdach Bros. Inc., Paxinos, distributors of MillerCoors products as well as a fine line of other domestic craft and imported beverages and non-alcoholic beverages, will have a display inside the main gates and handing out a complimentary Miller Lite to attendees 21 and older provided they have a valid ID.

There will also be handing out a complimentary raffle entry for a chance to win one of two Miller Lite fishing bobber coolers, an opportunity to take your picture with Lonnie Miller (AI’s most famous dirt track racer), and a chance to catch some Miller Lite swag

Samples will be available at the grandstand entrance starting at 5:30 p.m. until supplies last, with raffle tickets distributed until the end of hot laps.

Red White and Blue Autos Inc., a long-time track marketing partner, is sponsoring the evening. They are located at 500 S. Hoffman Boulevard in Ashland and are known for selling quality used cars at very affordable prices and also offer customer financing.

They are also the proud sponsor of Big Diamond Speedway’s Victory Lane and also help to back several of the competitors including Glenn “Buckshot” Rowan’s No. 00 602 Crate Sportsman.

Heading into Friday’s racing, both the 358 Modifieds and Roadrunners are embroiled in very close point battles and with only two regular season races remaining, those title hopefuls will be looking to snag every available point.

In the Modifieds Jeff Stunk leads Duane Howard by just 21 points while Louden Reimert is only 42 out of first and Mike Gular 80 behind Strunk.

Meanwhile in the Roadrunners Alex Schoffstall maintains a slim 23 point advantage over Chuck Fayash.

URC has been making visits to Big Diamond Speedway since 1983. Three-time and defending Club champion Josh Weller is the top winner here with four victories. He is the current point leader and will be looking to pick up his first win of the season as well.

The Pro 4 Racing Club were slated to make their track debut on July 25 but got rained out. These front-wheel drive, four-cylinder racers are an exciting class that will be able to make good use of the wide surroundings at Big Diamond and assure a very competitive event.

Friday’s pit gates open at 5:00 pm and grandstands at 5:30. Hot laps start at 7:15 followed by qualifying heats. Adult general admission is $25, students aged 10-15 are $15 and kids under 9 are free.

Pits are $35 for members and $45 for non-members.
