(1-20-26) The Red White and Blue Autos Inc., Roadrunner division at Big Diamond Speedway always brings plenty of excitement and thrills each week the class competes at the popular 3/8-mile dirt oval in Minersville.
The full-fender class, which is made up of rear-wheel-drive cars from the 1980s and ‘90s, never disappoints fans as each week most outcomes are right down to the wire.
Now thanks to the newest marketing partner of the speedway, Moyer’s Body Shop and Auto Sales of Newtown, the Roadrunners will be getting in a little extra action on the night of June 5 with a special “Challenge Race” taking place.
Matt Delaney, owner of Moyer’s Body Shop and Auto Sales, recently reached out to track owner/promoter Jake Smulley about coming on board and doing something unique for the class. And it didn’t take long to come up with a plan.
“I called Jake and inquired about doing something and we worked out a neat idea for June 5,” said Delaney.
“Our family is good friends with Mike Foran (Foran’s Transmission & Auto), and I saw that he is a sponsor and does a special night at the races, so I thought to give it a try myself with our business.”
The Roadrunner Challenge will take place with the top-10 in points. It will be a head-to-head match race through the process of elimination. The final car that completes the Challenge and wins will receive $300.
“I’m a longtime fan of Big Diamond Speedway and I’ve been helping Joey Brennan on his car, he’s actually my brother-in-law,” said Delaney.
“I only live a few miles from the track, and I’ve been coming there for years and although I enjoy all kinds of racing, I really like the Roadrunners the best. They’re an excellent group of drivers and put on some of the best racing.”
Moyer’s Body Shop and Auto Sales is located at 69 West Donaldson Street, Tremont (Newtown). They are a full detail autobody repair shop, providing top quality and affordable work. They can be reached at (570) 695-2167 and on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/moyersbodyshop/
In addition to their partnership with Big Diamond Speedway, Moyer’s Body Shop and Auto Sales serves as the proud sponsor of the No. 105 Roadrunner, driven by 2012 track champion Joey Brennan.
Moyer’s Body Shop and Auto Sales Night will include the Quandel Concrete 358 Modifieds, USS Achey Inc., 602 Crate Sportsman, the Big Creek Concrete Rookie 602 Crate Sportsman and a Big Car Enduro.
Big Diamond Speedway is set to begin racing on Friday evening, April 3, with the 54th Season Opener. An open practice session takes place the Sunday prior, on March 29, which all divisions are welcome to take part in.
