(6-29-26) Friday, July 3, Big Diamond Speedway will host B & H Landscaping Night, highlighted by the annual Georgie Stevenson Memorial. The event has become one of the speedway’s most meaningful and anticipated races, honoring the memory of Georgie Stevenson, who passed away from cancer in 1979 at the age of 12.

Since 1980 Big Diamond Speedway has been holding a memorial race in his honor.

Not only did Georgie have a true love and passion for Big Diamond Speedway but during his life he also went above and beyond to help others in any way possible.

Georgie started raising money for MS and MD in 1975. At age 12 he was named “Man of the Year.” He also received a Citizens Award and received a Citation from the Pennsylvania House of Representatives.

His wish to his family was that they continue helping those affected by cancer and other serious illnesses. Even as his own health declined, Georgie remained committed to supporting people in need, carrying on his charitable efforts with remarkable determination until the very end.

On Friday the Stevenson family will be on hand to present the George Stevenson “Gumba” Award which will go to the driver who did the most to help promote the race.

There will be two additional awards presented to those individuals who also helped raise funds and awareness to the Georgie Stevenson Memorial.

Plus, a special presentation will be made to an area family through the generous efforts of the weekly 50/50 sales at the track. 3-year old Cason Kimmel will be receiving a check from the money raised from the 50/50 to help cover costs for an upcoming surgery that he must undergo for Spastic Diplegic Cerebral Palsy.

The Dog Pound, a group of very dedicated track fans whose goal is to give back to the racers by way of special fund raisers throughout the season, will continue their yearly awards for this race in honor of their dear friends, John “Animal” Smith and Nina Schell.

The 2026 Dog Pound Georgie Stevenson Memorial “Hard Luck Bonus” in memory of John and Nina will see $300 going to a Modified driver, $200 to a Sportsman driver and $100 to a Roadrunner driver.

This year’s Georgie Stevenson Memorial race will be twin-20s for the BQ Concrete 358 Modifieds with each feature paying $2000 to win. The USS Achey Inc. 602 Crate Sportsman class will have a $1000 top prize awaiting the winner of the 20-lap race. The Red White and Blue Autos Inc. Roadrunners are also in action as well as the Infinite Solutions Keystone Sport Compact Series.

And as part of the July 4th holiday everyone will be treated to a spectacular Fireworks show.

For as long as he’s been in business, Billy Zeth, owner of B & H Landscaping of Pottsville, has also been part of Big Diamond Speedway as a proud track sponsor and a life-long fan.
