Parade of Power and Practice kickoff the new season at Big Diamond Speedway

BY: KEN BRUCE – With the first night of competition set to take place on Friday, April 12th, it is time to kick-off the 52nd season with the 3rd annual Parade of Power set to take place this Saturday, April 6th.

The Parade of Power will take place through the town of Minersville, Pa and will showcase the track with plenty of race cars that will compete in 2024 at Big Diamond. The Parade of Power will get underway at 12:00 PM and go until 5:00 PM.

Included in this year’s Parade of Power will be a car show with awards and live music provided by “The Boys Upstairs”. There will be food trucks and much much more taking place throughout the day.

Once the Parade of Power festivities are completed, it will be time to swing open the speedway gates for “Practice Day” on Sunday, April 7th. The practice will take place from 12:00 PM to 3:30 PM and is open to any race car with a roll cage.

Pit gates will open on Sunday at 10:30 AM.

Pit admission will be $35, Grandstand admission is free.

Of course, this is all in preparation for the 52nd season opener scheduled for Friday, April 12th with the running of the second annual “Thaw Brawl”. The Quandel Concrete Modifieds will race for a cool $4,052 winner’s share. Also, on the schedule for opening night will be the USS Achey Crate 602 Sportsman with $1,052 going to the winner. Rounding out the evening’s racing card will $452 to win Red White and Blue Autos Roadrunner and the Big Creek Concrete Rookie 602 Crate Sportsman.
