Modified Madness this Friday, May 3rd at Big Diamond Speedway

The Month of Money gets underway this Friday night, May 3rd at the Big Diamond Speedway beginning with the return of Modified Madness as the Mid Atlantic Modified Touring Emod Series make their second visit to Schuylkill County. Last season it was former NASCAR driver David Stremme winning the Mid Atlantic Modified feature over Michael Altobelli and Ray Kable III. This will be the first scheduled race of the year for the touring series.

As previously mentioned, this Friday night’s show will signal the beginning of the Month of Money for the Quandel Concrete Modifieds. Every scheduled feature for the mighty modifieds in the month of May will pay $5,000 to the winner. Paying this amount of money to win a normal 25-lap feature race once is unprecedented let alone doing it four times in a month. If a driver is able to sweep all four features, he will take home $20,000 for a month’s work. Last week’s $10,000 Money in the Mountain feature winner Anthony Perrego will be back to chase the big money in May.

As an added bonus for the month of May, Bill Brown & Company owner Ken Bruce will put up a bonus of $200 to the modified driver who has the highest average finish for May in the Quandel Concrete modified division. In the event of a tie, the bonus will go to the driver with the highest finish, if there is still a tie, it will go down the finishing order until the tie can be broken. The bonus is based on a minimum of three modified features being run in the month of May.

Also scheduled for this Friday night will be the makeup Quandel Concrete modified feature from the opening night Thaw Brawl which was postponed when the rain came. This feature will pay $4,052 to win with Ryan Watt and Louden Reimert leading the field to the start of the 25-lap race. If a team was able to win both features on Friday night, it would be a nice take home for the night of $9,052.

Completing this Friday’s big show will be the USS Achey Crate 602 Sportsman racing in a 20-lap feature race and the Red White and Blue Autos Roadrunners. Jax Yohn was the winner of last Friday’s USS Achey Inc Crate 602 Sportsman main event holding off a determined Colin Cox and will be looking to make it two in a row to start the season. The Red White and Blue Autos Roadrunners held double features last week with wins going to Chuck Fayash and Jarod Bassininsky.

Pit gates will open Friday night at 5:00 PM with the Grandstand gate opening at 5:30 PM

Hot laps will get underway at 7:15 PM with racing starting at 7:45 PM
