This coming Friday evening, April 24, Big Diamond Speedway presents Tony’s Meat Market Night with four classes of stock cars hitting the track.
Heading up the night of thrilling dirt track racing will be the BQ Concrete 358 Modifieds along with the USS Achey Inc. 602 Crate Sportsman, the Red White and Blue Autos Inc. Roadrunners plus the first visit of the season with the Keystone Sport Compact Series.
Tony’s Meat Market of Minersville is sponsoring the night of racing. Owned and operated by Tony Riccio, Tony’s Meat Market is opening daily serving Minersville and the nearby communities.
They are located at 17 E. North Street in Minersville. A second location in Orwigsburg is at 705 W. Market Street and each Wednesday they have a stand at the Hometown Farmers Market in Hometown. Tony’s Meat Market also serves as the official main grandstand concessionaire at the speedway.
In the 358 Modifieds there have been three different winners in as many weeks. Opening Night victor Mike Lisowski heads into Friday as the current division point leader and after back-to-back runner up tallies Tim Buckwalter sits firmly in second place.
Ryan Graver has jumped up to the point lead in the 602 Crate Sportsman. Graver has been knocking at the door of his first Big Diamond Speedway win. Positioned in second is Mikey Schneck Jr.. Both Graver and Schneck have yet to win and hope to change all that as soon as this Friday.
With his second win in three starts three-time and defending Roadrunner champion Alex Schoffstall heads into this week’s event as the top point getter. The only other driver to score a win thus far, Mike Reichert, is close behind in second.
The Keystone Sport Compact Series, a division designated for front-wheel drive four-cylinder cars, has their first of five scheduled events at the speedway.
The Big Creek Concrete Rookie 602 Crate Sportsman have the night off.
Pit gates will open on Friday at 5:00 pm with grandstands at 5:30 pm. Hot laps get underway beginning at 7:00 pm followed by racing. Pit admission is $35 for Big Diamond Speedway members and $45 for non-members. Adult general admission is $20, students 10-15 are $10 and kids 9 and under are free.
There will be no racing on the weekend of May 2 & 3. Instead, the speedway is hosting a special event featuring the 2X Monster Truck Live Tour Show.
