(8-7-26) After falling victim to rain for just the second time this season, Big Diamond Speedway will be back in action this coming Friday evening, August 14 for Back to School Night and Lasting Legends Night.
Thanks to Foran’s Transmission & Auto Repair along with Palermo’s Pizza there will be backpacks for the kids filled with school provisions to be handed out while supplies last and face painting too by Silly Smiles Face Painting and Magic Mirror Face Artistry.
Kids under 16 are free!
Lasting Legends has become a fan favorite evening as past greats are invited for a special meet and greet prior to the races getting underway.
This year’s Lasting Legends line-up includes 1993/94 Street Stock champion Bruce Williams, Dick Maberry, a popular Modified star during the latter half of the 1970s, Terry Peters, who competed in Sportsman Modifieds, ace Modified standout Davey Wenger, repeated Street Stock and Modified winner Keith Trumbo and Frankie Burke who not only raced at the track but worked for a stint as the announcer.
The Dog Pound will also be giving away special prizes for the “Best Vintage T-Shirt.”
The race line up will consist of the BQ Concrete 358 Modifieds, USS Achey Inc. 602 Crate Sportsman, Big Creek Concrete Rookie 602 Crate Sportsman and the River Valley Builders 305 PASS Sprinters. The Red white and Blue Autos Inc. Roadrunners have the night off.
Friday will be the first of just four regular season point races that remain for the 358 Modifieds and 602 Crate Sportsman Modifieds.
After 16 events for the 358 Mods defending class champion Louden Reimert leads in the standings over Mike Lisowski and Timmy Buckwalter with Duane Howard and Logan Watt filling out the top five. Reimert has also scored the most wins thus far with four.
The 602 Crate Sportsman have run 14 features to date and coming off his class leading fourth victory, Ryan Graver sits atop the rankings over Zach Steffey and Dakota Kohler.
The PASS 305 Sprinters are sure to attract a strong field of cars, as they always do, and deliver the terrific racing fans have come to expect whenever the class visits Big Diamond Speedway.
There have been four different winners this season with the Rookie 602 Crate Sportsman including most recent first time victor Mason Harakel. This budding class of up-and-coming talent continues to highlight that of aspiring drivers and show the future is in good hands.
General admission is $24 and kids under 16 admitted free. Pit admission is $35 for members and $45 non-members. Pits open at 5:00 pm and grandstands at 5:30 pm. Hot laps will begin at 6:45 pm with racing to follow.
The Prelude to the Coalcracker takes place in two weeks, Friday, August 21 on DBR Industrial Services LLC Night. The Modifieds will be contesting in a 50-lap/$10,000-to-win feature. Also on the card will be the Sportsman, Roadrunners and Rookie Sportsman.
