With the pits packed with race cars and with a huge crowd on hand for the opening night Thaw Brawl at Big Diamond Speedway, the rains moved in as the second Quandel Concrete Modified Consi was on the track forcing promoters Jake and Jasmine Smulley to postpone the balance of the night.
The Quandel Concrete Modifieds had 35 cars signed in for opening night with heat wins going to Mike Gular, Duane Howard, Rick Laubach and Ryan Watt. The first modified consolation race was won by Anthony Perrego. The USS Achey 602 Crate Sportsman heat races were won by Brandon Firestine, Kevin Olenick and Colin Cox. Alex Schoffstall and Andrew Fayash won the two Red White and Blue Autos Roadrunner heats.
With over half of the night’s races completed and qualifying all complete except for the last modified consi, the show is considered complete and there will be no rainchecks. That race and the night’s feature races will be made up as follows.
Friday, April 26th: The Red White and Blue Autos Roadrunners will run their make-up feature along with the already scheduled Money in the Mountains / Fritz Roehrig Memorial race featuring the Quandel Concrete Modifieds racing for 50-laps and $10,000 to win also featuring the USS Achey, Inc. 602 Crate Sportsman, Roadrunners and the Big Creek Concrete Rookie 602 Crate Sportsman.
Friday, May 3rd: The Quandel Concrete Modifieds will make-up the second consolation race and the Thaw Brawl feature in addition to their regularly scheduled events along with the Mid-Atlantic Modifieds, the USS Achey, Inc. 602 Crate Sportsman, and the Red White and Blue Autos Roadrunners.
Friday, May 17th: The Big Creek Concrete 602 Crate Rookies will run their make-up feature in addition to their already scheduled feature that night. Filling out the program will be the Quandel Concrete Modifieds, the USS Achey Inc. 602 Crate Sportsman and the Wingless Sportsman.
Friday, May 31st: The USS Achey, Inc. 602 Crate Sportsman will race their make-up feature in addition to their already scheduled events for that night. Rounding out the program for that night will be the Quandel Concrete Modifieds, Big Creek Concrete Rookie 602 Crate Sportsman and the Red White and Blue Autos Roadrunners.
